They're robots. They're in disguise. They're coming to a screen near you 7.4.7 (American date notation, the less exciting 04/07/07 would be more appropriate for this side of the pond).
I've just watched the latest of the forthcoming Transformers movie trailers - yep - it's full of all the spectacle, all the polish and all the John Voight that one expects to see in a Summer blockbuster move trailer. Lots of style, lots of promise, but you know in your heart of hearts no matter how fantastic the trailer is, you'll walk away from the cinema (or your sitting room if you're a 'torrent fan) feeling empty and that little bit poorer (unless of course you've just walked into your kitchen, being a torrent fan with a generous monthly download cap... but you get my point...).
The trailer promises typical Michael Bay trash (that guy must hate cars, plot and women over 30!) ... but three small moments/nods gave me hope...
Nice touches ...
- The yellow VW bug in the car dealer lot (beside the modern bay BumbleBee)
- The old school 'transforming' sound when big rig Prime introduces himself
- The face-off between Prime &
MegatronBoneCrusher at the end of the trailer (complete with token black guy screaming support)
Hard to explain why, but for a brief moment I nodded and thought "It's gonna be alright"...
