I was drawn to a news report in today's BBC rss feed titled 'Taiwan "tests new cruise missile"'. It's a fairly typical article on the continuing tensions between Taiwan (read: David) and China (read: Goliath), with one exception - the choice of accompanying picture. Rather than something stark and militaristic (be imaginative, think pictures of storm troopers, fighter aircraft or - for the hell of it - a cruise missile...), they've chosen to include a picture of a jolly looking little old lady surrounded by flowers!!! (click here for a full sized giggle!)
Sure - the picture is put into context by the fifth paragraph, but priceless for those precious first few of seconds...
